YouTube direct messaging is going live in more regions

YouTube offers plenty of ways to communicate on the platform, but direct messaging wasn’t one of them for a long time. That’s because YouTube removed the feature many years ago, and most people barely even remember it existed. That all changed just a few months ago when YouTube revived the feature for a select number of regions.

If you’ve been itching to try out direct messaging on YouTube, your time may have finally arrived. YouTube shared details about its expansion through its support page, which was picked up by PuinikaWeb and Android Authority. While the feature was previously limited to those in Poland and Ireland, it’s not available in over two dozen more countries.

So, who’s invited to the conversation?

Well, YouTube managed to add over two dozen countries to the list that will now have access to direct messaging on YouTube. That’s quite a big bump when compared to the previous countries that were allowed access. Naturally, you’ll want to check the list to make sure that your country is on the list.

For the time being, the direct messaging feature will only be available in: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

When it comes to the rules, nothing has changed from the previous release, with YouTube requiring users to have an account and be signed in order to gain access. Furthermore, users must also be 18 years or older in order to unlock the feature. YouTube will require users to verify their age in order to have access.

The great part about this feature is that you’ll be able to directly share videos that you find interesting. And to keep things under control, the user on the receiving end will have the ability to accept or deny the message. There is also the option to unsend a message, and even delete a conversation, just in case you’re having second thoughts.

For the most part, it should add something fresh to the platform that has been rapidly expanding with new features for the past year. So, as stated before, if you’re in any of the eligible regions, open the YouTube app and give this feature a try.
