Google’s March 2025 Pixel Feature Drop rolled out a ‘limit to 80 percent’ battery ‘bug’ that isn’t sitting well with users. Now, the same drop also seems to be causing issues with Pixel Watches.
After updating to the latest update, several users have taken to online forums, including Reddit, Google Support, and even the Fitbit community forum to vent their frustration with SpO2 (blood oxygen) and skin temperature tracking.
According to users, said health metrics have simply vanished, leaving a blank space in the Fitbit app overnight, as spotted by the folks over at 9to5Google.
This doesn’t appear to be a universal issue. Those running older software builds are tracking and reporting SpO2 and skin temperature data just fine. The issue is only prevalent among those running the latest March build, indicating that this isn’t really a server-side issue.
Users have also reported isolated incidents regarding other watch-related issues. “Same issue here. Stopped working after the March update. Also, calories burnt seems to have doubled and the battery seems to be worse. Seen a few people complain about these issues over the last few days,” wrote user NateDogg9696.
The issue has been reported across all Pixel Watch generations. Of course, the Pixel Watch 1 doesn’t have skin temperature sensing, so users with the original model are only seeing their blood oxygen readings disappear.
Workarounds for temporary relief exist
Although there seems to be no official hotfix just yet, users have reported success with some measures. Try these steps:
- Clear the Fitbit app’s cache: Head to Settings > Apps > All apps > Fitbit > Storage and cache > Clear cache.
- Reset the Watch: Although not optimal, several users claimed that factory resetting their watch fixed the issue.
- Set your Pixel Watch as a new device in the Fitbit app: Fitbit support suggests that doing a fresh setup can clear out the issue.
