What should you watch this weekend? It might not be the eternal question, but it is an old one.
There are too many choices on streaming and faced with them, it’s easy to fall into a comfort watch. But even the most comfortable things can wear thin after a while.
So I’ve done the work of sorting through what’s new and by giving you less to choose from, the more likely you might be to watch one of them.
Bait (Prime Video)
In “Bait,” Riz Ahmed is not playing a character named Riz Ahmed but he’s not not playing a character like Riz Ahmed. Ahmed has long been rumored to be the next James Bond and in this series, he plays an actor who is indeed auditioning to play James Bond.
Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 (Disney+)
Daredevil made a welcome return to small screens in a Netflix to Disney+ transition. The second season of the show has another return with Jessica Jones (still played by Krysten Ritter) joining him in his continued fight against Kingpin.
Anatomy of a Fall (Netflix)
In this acclaimed film, Sandra Hüller plays a woman on trial for killing her husband. The case hinges on whether or not he committed suicide or was pushed in his fall from their chalet in the French Alps.
Sentimental Value (Hulu)
Fresh off an Oscar win for Best International Feature Film, “Sentimental Value” is the story of a director (played by Stellan Skarsgård) who is navigating a complicated relationship with his adult daughters, particularly after casting a young Hollywood star instead of one of them in his latest film.
BTS: The Return (Netflix)
BTS is back together after all of its members have completed their military service in South Korea. This documentary examines their much-anticipated reunion and their work on their latest album “Arirang.”
Pretty Lethal (Prime Video)
Five ballerinas who are stranded in a forest and find themselves at a strange inn run by a former ballet prodigy have to quickly learn how to fight quite literally for their lives.
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice (Hulu)
While the title alone sounds confusing, things get more twisted in “Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice,” which is a sci-fi gangster action comedy. There’s time travel, two Vince Vaughns, and an 80s soundtrack.
