Over the weekend, a large shipment of KitKat bars was stolen while in transit to distributors. The truck was carrying 413,793, or 12 tons, of the chocolate bars, and was intercepted in Europe on 26 March. Nestle, KitKat’s parent company, confirmed the theft in a statement that reads, “We can confirm that 12T of KitKat products were stolen while in transit between our factory in Central Italy and their destination in Poland. We are working closely with authorities and supply chain partners to investigate. The good news: there are no concerns for consumer safety, and supply is not affected. Thank you.”
Of course, the internet shortly took hold, and multiple companies began to create their own meme versions of the now infamous statement. Among those were some games developers, content creators, and fan pages, so we’ve rounded up some of the more amusing ones, because why not?
Strinova

The Strinova–the anime girl team-based FPS that sees cute cartoon girls able to shift into 2D versions of themselves–X account was quick to confirm that, despite her infamous love of confectionary, Michele was not responsible for the heist. “We do NOT think 12 tons of chocolate is something she could handle,” the message read.
Running With Scissors

Running with Scissors, the studio behind the Postal games and upcoming FPS Flesh & Wire, claimed that “some jackasses who hate videogames” raided its Paradise, AZ-based offices. Thankfully, one of its former employees “made proper use of his Second Amendment rights before things got worse.” Obviously, the studio is joking. We think.
Dead by Daylight

Asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer horror title Dead by Daylight joined in on the meme fun, inserting quips about the game’s Fog feature. “We too were surprised to learn of the mysterious Fog reported on the roadway prior to the truck’s disappearance,” the X post read. “We are currently combing the Realms to see if we can spot this strange addition to The Fog. However, should we manage to locate it, we can’t guarantee it will be allowed to escape.”
Pokemon

Although this entry comes from a fan account rather than any official Pokemon channels, it still raised a smile, so it’s being included. The Pokemon Daily account simply confirms that Bulbasaur had nothing to do with the KitKat heist. Of course he didn’t.
Evil Genius

Rebellion, the studio that acquired the rights to the Evil Genius franchise in 2006 and subsequently released a sequel in 2021, has created an image of the game’s protagonist, Maximilian, standing proudly among palettes of KitKat bars. About 12 tons, at a guess. “Finally, our plan is coming together,” the studio wrote on X. Not suspicious at all.
Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike content creator Thorben has modded a KitKat truck into the game’s Overpass map. They’re not the only one to do so, as fellow creators DaddySkins and esports collective Team Spirit opted for similar approaches.
Payday

Not satisfied with sticking to the meme format, heist game Payday’s developer filmed a video of character Dallas complete with KitKat bar peeking out from his suit pocket. Shortly after, the X account posted that it will “neither confirm nor deny what was in the truck” alongside a picture of a KitKat wrapped stuffed with cash.
World of Warcraft

The World of Warcraft X account posted an in-game image edited so that the bundle of items shows an Epic rarity “12T of KitKats” with the accompanying message reading, “This is just a coincidence, we swear…” Sure. I believe them.
Exodus

Upcoming sci-fi action-adventure RPG Exodus joined in the fun, posting a statement to its X page. “We regret to inform you, KitKats are incredible scarce 40,000 years in the future. Someone forgot to put them in properly sealed containers and they didn’t make it to Centauri.” We’re unsure whether to be on board with the victim blaming approach here, but it’s logical at least.
Among Us

In true Among Us fashion, the social deception game’s X account simply posted, “Sabotage.”
Vindictus: Defying Fate

Vindictus: Defying Fate is an action RPG currently in development at Nexon. The game’s community manager has crafted an image showing the playable character Karok lugging around a giant KitKat. “No idea where it came from,” the accompanying X post reads. Though they have felt the need to give Karok the best chance at getting away with his crimes, adding, “Made by CM for fun; not in-game.”
Cut the Rope

I’d almost forgotten Cut the Rope exists, and I got quite the nostalgia hit when protagonist Om Nom popped up on my social media feed. The X post simply states that the chaotic green monster had nothing to do with the KitKat heist, although with his renowned penchant for candy, it’s easy to understand the need to clarify that.
Hitman

A post on the Hitman X account addressed the game’s protagonist, Agent 47. “I hate to interrupt your break between contracts. A shipment of delicious snacks has gone missing under suspicious circumstances. Your target is an unidentified individual with a sweet tooth. For now we are calling them ‘The Snacker.’ We believe they deserve to have a break–permanently. I’ll leave you to prepare.”
Maybe Agent 47 can solve this confectionary crime once and for all.
