Verizon quietly hikes price on YouTube Premium perk

April 11, 2026

I rely on YouTube quite a bit for a lot of my streaming entertainment. I pay for YouTube Premium so I can watch ad-free videos at home and on the go, but I also consume hours of music through YouTube Music, which is included with a Premium subscription. For me, it’s worth it and I think I get my money’s worth.

But with the recent price increase, it does have me considering whether to call it quits. There’s no doubt others will feel the same way. Now, if you’re a Verizon customer, you’re able to get a discounted rate on YouTube Premium through its Perks program. But, it looks like that’s also going to get a price increase starting next month.

It’s still a bit cheaper

We never like to see price increases, but running a service like YouTube, or any streaming service for that matter, isn’t cheap. The evidence of this is that nearly all major streaming services have increased their prices over the years. So, you can expect this to continue in the near future, that is, until consumers start dropping streaming services.

If you’re a Verizon customer, you can confirm those changes by heading to the Verizon Plan Perks page. You’ll see that there’s now a small disclaimer on the page that reads: “*Effective 5/13/26, the YouTube Premium Perk price will change from $10/month to $12/month.” This change was initially spotted by the folks at Android Authority.

This price increase correlates with the new YouTube Premium price increase that’s being implemented immediately for new subscribers and will go into effect in June for current subscribers. While the Verizon Perk price is still below what you’d get from going direct through YouTube, it’s still a bit disappointing to see prices going up.

When it comes to YouTube Premium pricing, the new price for an individual plan will now come in at $15.99/month or $159.99/year. If you choose to pay for a full year, you’ll save a good chunk with a 15% savings. Those with multiple users under one household might want to opt for the family plan, but the price of that is also going up, now costing $26.99/month.

Again, you can always just cancel the service if you’re not really feeling the new price increase. However, you’ll have to suffer through ads going forward, and from our experience, it’s pretty brutal.
