Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup will get another refresh this summer. We already know what the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will look like, courtesy of leaked CAD renders. Considering the design upgrades introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 last year, it was no surprise that there weren’t too many visual changes on board.
We’re now getting a good glimpse at the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in similar high-resolution CAD renders. These images were published as part of a collaboration between @OnLeaks and MyMobiles, giving us an excellent look at the upcoming flip-style foldable in all its glory.
Based on what we said about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 renders we saw recently, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 also looks practically unchanged from its predecessor. There is one difference, although it may not be sufficient to warrant an upgrade for owners of the Z Flip 7.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be thinner, but not by much
With dimensions of 85.4 x 75.4 x 13.2mm when folded, versus the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s 85.5 x 75.2 x 13.7mm, the big takeaway is that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be roughly 0.5mm thinner. On the other hand, the upcoming foldable will measure 166.8 x 75.4 x 6.6mm when unfolded, largely similar to the last-gen model’s dimensions of 166.7 x 75.2 x 6.5mm.
This leak corroborates a report from back in November suggesting that a thinner Z Flip model may be on the cards.
Given the design similarities with the last-gen model, save for the thinner frame, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is unlikely to feature major hardware upgrades. Thankfully, multiple reports over the past few months have given us a sense of what to expect from the foldable.
A leak in January indicated that the Z Flip 8 won’t bring any major changes to the camera hardware. Meanwhile, reports also claim that the foldable will stick with an Exynos chipset, specifically the Exynos 2600. This is unsurprising considering that Samsung made the switch to the Exynos 2500 with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 last year.
I’m still not over the original Pixel Fold, and it looks like Samsung and Apple agree
Wider foldables are the way to go
As for when you can expect these smartphones to be officially unveiled, Samsung may have earmarked July 22, 2026, as the date. The event will reportedly take place in London.
While the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be unveiled during the event, most of the attention may go towards the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Samsung is expected to market it as a rival to Apple’s first-ever foldable, though the price tag will likely be a decisive factor for consumers.
