Festering supply chain issues have made “get in there early” the name of the Black Friday 2021 game. In response, many retailers are covering their holiday deals with new price match guarantees in the off-chance items get cheaper later in the season (Target and Best Buy included) — that way, you can shop early and confidently.
We bring this up because Walmart has thrown us for a loop with its pricing on the ProForm 750R Rower, a smart, foldable rowing machine that comes with 24 levels of silent magnetic resistance, a 5-inch multicolor display, and a free 30-day iFIT Family membership (worth $39). After putting the machine on sale for $497 in the wee hours of its second Black Friday Deals for Days event (which began Nov. 10), it’s since dropped the price further to just $468 as of Nov. 13.
The big box store isn’t offering a price guarantee on any of its Black Friday markdowns, so in all fairness, it’s free to do whatever it wants. But we’ve been staring at Walmart’s holiday deals page for what feels like forever now (OK, since early October) in the hunt for this year’s best Black Friday deals, and we haven’t seen an adjustment like this happen with any other big-ticket item.
No complaints, though: The 750R typically sells for $999 on ProForm’s website, so this doorbuster works out to an impressive 53% savings.
That brings us to our next question: Should you wait to see if this thing gets even cheaper? Hard “no” on that one: Walmart’s second savings event is scheduled to end on Sunday, Nov. 14, and since the 750R is labeled with one of its golden “Black Friday Deal” banners, its ultra-low pricing is almost certainly going to disappear along with it.
FWIW, Best Buy and Kohl’s are the only retailers that have attempted to compete with Walmart’s 750R deal; you could get it on sale off their websites for $494.99 and $599.99 (plus $120 in Kohl’s Cash), respectively, the last time we checked. Meanwhile, it sold out on Amazon (as of this writing) after dipping to a cheeky $574.
