I wasn’t impressed then. I’m not impressed now. Technology evolved to the point where an open world was possible and GTA was one of the first games released that used that technology to make an open world. It was going to happen eventually they just got the jump. Morrowind for example was already deep in development and released less than a year later. There have been many better ones since. The combat and writing in GTA have always been awful and an embarrassment.
