Poll: Do you suffer from any chronic pains due to phone use?

David Imel / Android Authority

Phones are addicting. Whether you’re a gamer, a social media scroller, or a YouTube watcher, we all have something that keeps our eyes on our phones longer than we might like.

You’ve probably experienced some type of incidental injury from your smartphone: dropped your phone on your face in bed, dropped it on your toe, arms going numb from holding it too long, or one of the many other minor injuries one could experience.

Some people, unfortunately, develop chronic issues due to too much phone time. These include “text neck,” which is caused by your head being bent downwards for an extended period of time and often involves unavoidable neck pain. Those who spend a lot of time in the hunched-over position can also develop a hunchback that doesn’t immediately go away.

Some even experience hearing damage or high-frequency hearing loss. One study shows using your phone for over 60 minutes a day could cause the inability to hear frequencies between 2,000–8,000Hz, which can inhibit the ability to understand speech and hear consonants.

There are lots of other potential issues caused by smartphones. We won’t attempt to list them all here, but we’d like to know if you’ve experienced any of the chronic symptoms listed in our poll. Text neck? Hunchback? Hearing loss? Cast your vote in the poll, and be sure to sound off in the comments if you have anything to add.
