Fallout TV Series Going Into Production This Year, Westworld Creator To Direct

Amazon Studio’s Fallout TV series adaptation has received its first update in over a year, with the series now planned to enter production sometime this year.

This is one of the first updates the series has seen since its teaser in 2020, leading some to wonder about its status. Production will start this year, according to Deadline, with Westworld creator and executive producer Jonathan Nolan helming directing duties for the show’s pilot.

Additionally, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who co-wrote Captain Marvel and the 2018 Tomb Raider reboot, and Graham Wagner, who served as executive producer on Portlandia and co-executive producer on Silicon Valley, will be showrunners for the first season.

The show is being produced by both Amazon and Kilter Films, with Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham executive producing. Nolan and Joy are most famous for their time producing Westworld, which is getting a fourth season this year. Bethesda’s Todd Howard and James Altman will also be executive producers on the show, with some creative oversight.

Not much is known about the story this series will tackle, and whether it will adapt an existing one or tell and entirely original tale within the Fallout setting. Back in 2021, Joy offered a small tease on the series’ planned tone, saying it’s “just a gonzo, crazy, funny, adventure and a mindf**k like none you’ve ever seen before.”
