I think how they will work something out is just how the deal impacts sales.
Hypothetical wise…
If Xbox sales skyrocket and pass PS5 sales then they’ll see these billion dollar buy outs a success, double down on Game Pass and sooner or later will eventually pressure Sony to get Game Pass where they will most likely push streaming and other things, mostly stuff they wanted to do in 2013 with the Xbox One, just more…surgical.
If the PS5 continues to sell extremely well and the Xbox at the end of this gen don’t close the gap as much as Microsoft wants then there’s always the chance they could tempt Sony by allowing one game they have to be multiplatform, testing the waters of how well that game will do within that huge consumer base, who knows they could release it physical. If it does super well then they might change tactics
Who knows…it’s 2 out of a dozen possibilities but I do think how much they’ve closed the gap towards the PS5 near the end of this gen will impact how they go about their games being on other platforms. They’ve spent a shit load of money, they’ll want sales to make an impact against their competitor, if they don’t and the PS5 continues to sell well for years without Bethesda or Activision games then what would they think…all that money.
