Realme made the news for all the wrong reasons earlier this month when it quietly revealed on its website that the Realme Pad wouldn’t receive any OS updates. This was incredibly disappointing as the budget-priced tablet was less than six months old.
Fortunately, the company has now told Android Authority that the Realme Pad will get Android 12 in a rough Q3 2022 release window. A Realme representative added that the tablet would be “guaranteed” three years of security updates.
It’s also worth noting that Realme has now removed any mention of the Realme Pad not getting OS updates, having originally made this statement on an FAQ page.
One OS update is better than no OS update then, but it would’ve been great to see the company offer more version updates. After all, tablets tend to be kept and used for longer than smartphones.
