How to install HBO Max on the Fire TV Stick
When HBO Max first launched, it was hard to find on some devices, including Amazon’s Fire TV Stick. Thankfully, the app has since rolled out on every streaming device — just not in every country. You can search for the app from the Fire TV Appstore to see if it is available in your region from the home screen. You can also ask your Fire TV Stick to find the app by pressing the Alexa or microphone button on your Fire TV remote and saying, “Find HBO Max.” After downloading the app, you can say the same thing to open it quickly.
If you’re currently not in front of your Fire TV, you can download the app from the Amazon website. Sign in to your Amazon account and select your device from the Deliver to menu. Aside from the Fire TV Stick, you can also watch HBO Max on your Fire tablet. You’ll find the app on-screen the next time you fire up your Fire TV or tablet.
How to cancel HBO Max on the Fire TV Stick
To remove HBO Max from your Fire Stick, navigate to Settings from the home page and select Applications—>Manage Installed Applications. Scroll down to find HBO Max and click Uninstall.
If you never plan to use the app again, make sure you first cancel your subscription within the app to avoid being charged the monthly fee. To do so, open Settings—>Billing Information—>Manage Subscription. Lastly, select Cancel Subscription and confirm your decision.
HBO Max costs $14.99 per month in the US with 4K streaming and offline viewing. There is also an ad-supported plan for $9.99 per month.
Can I still get HBO Max with Amazon Prime?
HBO Max is no longer available as an add-on with Prime Video. Amazon Prime subscribers looking to access HBO Max will have to sign up with HBO directly.
