Halo TV Show Includes A Chevy Tahoe, And It Wasn’t A Game Of Thrones Coffee Cup-Style Mess-Up

A recent trailer for the Halo TV series contained a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of a Chevy Tahoe, which doesn’t make a lot of sense given the show takes place in the 26th century. But according to showrunner Steven Kane, the SUV is there for a reason, Polygon reports Kane saying (though he is never directly quoted as saying this).

Regarding eagle-eyed fans in general, Kane told the site, “It’s both frightening and exhilarating to know people care that much.” According to Polygon, “each prop” on set was placed with intention, so it’s unlikely the Tahoe was there by accident in a Game of Thrones coffee cup-style screw-up.

Halo transmedia boss Kiki Wolfkill, who is an executive producer on the show, also reacted to fans noticing the Tahoe. She said it would have been surprising if fans didn’t notice it.

“For people who haven’t spent time in the game industry, there’s no such thing as too fast a shot to notice something,” Wolfkill said. “We have to assume every single frame will be examined.”

Also in the interview, director Otto Bathurst (Black Mirror) said the Halo TV show won’t be what you might expect, and it could be controversial for that reason.

“What people see will be different from what they’ve expected,” Bathurst said. “And hopefully a strong percentage [of fans] will be pleased with it. But listen, I’m sure it’s going to ruffle some feathers.”

The Halo TV series premieres March 24 on Paramount+, featuring Pablo Schreiber in the lead role of Master Chief. For more, check out what the critics are saying about it. Season 2 is currently in the works.
