Typically fake ID stories conjure images of a McLovin-esque pieces of cheap plastic that no bouncer in their right mind is going to believe for a second.

Not teenage Adam Scott’s fake ID, though. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, the Severance star told the story about the ID he created when he was 16 — and he clearly aimed high.

“When I was 16 I needed a more legit fake ID so I did something that was really quite illegal now, thinking back on it,” Scott beings, before launching into a story about going down to City Hall, getting the birth certificate for his older brother Dave, heading to the DMV and then casually having a driver’s licence made with his photo and his older brother’s name.

“I was so excited,” says Scott. “But then after a few weeks it came in the mail, and my mom retrieved it.”

Needless to say, that was the end of that plan. But at least Scott still has story, plus a nice photo to remember it by.
