Weird Pixel 6 Pro bug automatically declines incoming calls

TL;DR

  • Users are reporting that their Pixel 6 Pro handsets are declining incoming calls without their knowledge.
  • The issue seems to creep up randomly.
  • Affected users have spam call protection, DND, and Flip to Shhh switched off, so the issue seems to be a bug.

The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro might be the best phones the company has ever made, but they sure are riddled with bugs. The latest issue seems to have given the Pixel 6 Pro a mind of its own.

Multiple users are reporting on Reddit that their top-of-the-line Pixel is rejecting phone calls from saved contacts without their knowledge. The problem is happening at random and not for all incoming calls. One user reports that this happens to them at least a couple of times a week. Others have also experienced the same several times.

Strangely enough, the rejected calls show up in the phone’s call log. Also, calls that are sometimes declined come through at other times.

Google has a spam protection feature that blocks unwanted calls when turned on. Keeping your phone on DND, enabling Flip to Shhh, and switching on Wi-Fi calling can also affect incoming calls. However, the user who reported the problem had all these options disabled.

Meanwhile, some folks also have their calls going straight to voicemail even though they haven’t enabled the feature.

Google hasn’t acknowledged the issue so far, but it sounds like a software bug that the company should be able to fix with an update. Looks like it’s a wait-and-watch game for Pixel 6 Pro owners whose calls are getting declined without reason.

We’ll update this article if and when a fix comes around. If you’re a Pixel 6 user, let us know in the comments section if this has ever happened to you or if you know a way to fix it.
