Where to watch ‘Russian Doll’ Season 2, ‘Heartstopper,’ ‘The Northman,’ and ‘Shining Girls.’

Welcome back to the East Village, cock-a-roaches. Russian Doll Season 2 is streaming on Netflix now.

What’s worse than getting stuck in an almost-endless cycle of dying and waking up in a weird bathroom? According to Russian Doll Season 2, the answer is “turning into your mother.” Natasha Lyonne and a mustachioed Charlie Barnett return as Nadia and Alan, who find that New York isn’t quite finished bending the laws of time and space to teach them what they need to learn.

For something a little less existential, Netflix also has all episodes of Heartstopper, a charming story of queer teen love based on the webcomics and published work of Alice Oseman. Set at one of those British all-boys schools, Heartstopper tells the story of Charlie, an anxious gay 11th former, and his enduring crush on classmate Nick. Cute? Yes. Funny? Also yes. Fans of Hulu’s Love, Victor will certainly see the appeal.

Braving a night at the cinema may still be slightly dicey, but some movies are meant to be seen big. Robert Eggers’ The Northman is one of those. Hailed by some as the most historically accurate Viking-era movie ever made, Eggers’ attention to detail is present in every frame. And when many of those frames include a screaming, shirtless Alexander Skarsgård, well, the cold never bothered us anyway. The Northman is now playing in movie theaters.

Finally, Elisabeth Moss sheds her red Handmaid’s Tale robes for a role in Shining Girls, a new Apple TV+ miniseries about a time-traveling serial killer. Moss plays the only known survivor of the killer, who is then compelled to track him down wherever — or whenever — he might be hiding. Shining Girls premieres on Apple TV+ April 29.
