Here’s what you really think about the Pixel Watch

If you’ve been following tech news lately, you’d likely know that Google is getting ready to launch its first smartwatch. The Pixel Watch, as it’s being called right now, is not a complete stranger, thanks to multiple leaks and rumors. We’ve even seen the device’s prototype in the wild, photographed extensively by someone who happened to find it in a restaurant.

With all that we know about Google’s upcoming wearable, we asked you, our readers, two questions — What do you think about the design of the Pixel Watch? and Are you looking forward to buying it? Here’s how you answered our polls.

What do you think of the leaked Pixel Watch design?

Are you looking forward to buying the Google Pixel Watch?

Results

It’s clear from the pie charts presented above that Android Authority readers are very enthusiastic about the Google Pixel Watch.

As far as the leaked design of the device is concerned, 74.2% of the total 1,346 surveyed readers said that they really liked it. 25.7% voted to say that they hated it completely. You can read the comments below to see why some readers are apprehensive about how the Google watch looks.

Meanwhile, even though Google hasn’t announced a single detail about the smartwatch, most of our polled readers — 84.56% of 2,221 voters — are looking forward to picking up the device when it launches. 15.4% of the respondents said they aren’t so enthusiastic and don’t want to buy the watch, at least not now.

You comments

farawayplace: Too fat. It’s going to catch on everything and scratch.

Miles Virginia: I was ready to buy one, but the proprietary band has turned me off.

ChrisPollard77: Kinda lost me at the proprietary wrist straps. Also not sure about that big round glass bulb. Might look and feel nice, but seems like it would kinda suck as far as durability goes. I know the metal casing around my Falster 2 (and OG Moto 360 before it) has been known to take some pretty good whacks without any visible signs of anything. I’m a fan of that kind of durability.

Scott: The rounded face makes me nervous about scratching the glass or how a screen protector would work and seamlessly mesh with the watch.

EeZeEpEe: From the pics it actually looks like he’s wearing it lower than would be recommended. Usually they recommend it to be higher on the wrist and above the wrist bone for better heart rate monitoring. That being said, it looks good and I like it.

JL: Can’t wait! It looks and sounds quite premium. I’m not worried about the battery anymore and it looks like it’s loaded to gills with tech. Will definitely be buying this. Read the who whole Reddit AMA thread.

grokker: It’s fat. I hope it doesn’t look too thick on the wrist, but I’ll have to see it on before making a decision. Not a fan of proprietary bands either. I’m really fed up with Samsung privacy policies (EXPLICITLY selling health data to third parties???) so as soon as this is available or a Fossil group brand comes out with a reasonable Wear OS 3 watch, I’m switching.

EeZeEpEe: It’s not mentioned in this article but I read that it’s 12.7 mm thick. That’s about the same as my Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle which is 12 mm and my Fitbit Sense at 12.35 mm.

Marshall: About as appealing to me as most other smartwatch designs.

Joe Black: I do not really care for design, I care for software quality and battery life.
Let’s hope they won’t mess it up.

Setebos: It’s gonna be terrible and I do like Pixel phones and own the 6 Pro. But knowing Google, there’s just no way this is going to be a good smartwatch lol. Android Wear is their biggest failure of all time.
