Star Wars: Ahsoka Series Begins Production

Lucasfilm has shared a photo to mark the start of production for Ahsoka, the upcoming original Star Wars series for Disney+. Check out the photo below, but don’t get your hopes up too high for revealing Easter eggs–it’s just of a chair with the show’s logo on it, and some blurry monitors.

However, that doesn’t diminish the fact that this is huge, exciting news for Star Wars fans and the character who’s had a winding road getting to this point. Ahsoka first debuted in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, before starring in the animated series of the same name, appearing in Star Wars Rebels, and move. Here, the character is making the jump to live-action. Writer/executive producer Dave Filoni–whose hat on the director’s chair you can see in the newly released image below–told Empire back in November 2021 that he had the idea for Ahsoka “for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved.”

While that’s enticing to hear, we still don’t know all that much about Ahsoka. The series stars Rosario Dawson and Natashia Liu Bordizzo. Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano, the Togruta Jedi who once was a padawan to Anakin Skywalker. Bordizzo steps into the role of Mandalorian Sabine Wren. Hayden Christensen is also scheduled to make a guest appearance as Anakin Skywalker. In late November 2021, Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim: Uprising) joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

Elsewhere in the Star Wars franchise, Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney+ on May 27.

Star Wars: Ahsoka is anticipated to have a likely debut in late 2022 or 2023.
