Resident Evil 4 gets the remake treatment next March

During today’s PlayStation State of Play presentation, Capcom revealed Resident Evil 4 remake and that it will launch on March 23, 2023. The title will also get PlayStation VR2 content.

The game will be heading to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It won’t be exclusive to PlayStation platforms, and it is seemingly leaving the previous generation behind.

The first trailer for the game didn’t show too much, but it did include a lot of atmospheric shots that show off the game’s visual upgrade compared to the GameCube original. It also shows glimpses of protagonist Leon along with Ashley, whom Leon rescues in the game. Additionally, there are shots of Castle Salazar and the various enemies that inhabit it. The trailer ends with a sneak peek of Lord Osmund Saddler, the leader of the religious Los Illumnados cult and main antagonist.

He ominously says, “You’ll receive our most sacred body. It begins… now.”

Furthermore, Capcom also revealed that Resident Evil Village will be getting PlayStation VR content too. Players will be able to experience the entire campaign, including the notable Castle Dimitrescu. It will also take advantage of PlayStation VR2’s eye-tracking, 4K display, and PS5’s 3D audio.

This time around, players can also execute more dynamic movements and actions. For example, protagonist Ethan Winters can hold up both a knife and a gun in each hand, something he couldn’t do before. Ethan can even dual wield weapons as well, such as having a handgun in one, and a shotgun in the other.

According to reports, the Resident Evil 4 remake could be scarier than the original that was released back in 2005.
