Through Sunday, June 5 at 7 p.m. EST or while supplies last, Walmart+ members can grab a copy of the game from the big box store for just $39.99 — that’s $10 off its suggested retail price of $49.99, which works out to a 20% savings. (Not a paid member? Amazon had managed to price-match the deal at the time of writing.) This is the version that includes the Leg Strap accessory you’ll need for the Soccer minigame, FYI, so no need to buy any extra equipment.
The successor to 2006’s beloved Wii Sports, Switch Sports features Tennis, Bowling, and Chambara (a type of sword-fighting) on top of three new game modes for Soccer, Badminton, and Volleyball; keep an eye out for a free update with Golf later this fall. You can duke it out with family and friends on the same system or challenge randos online in a quest to reach the Pro League for each sport — that’ll rack up points you can redeem for in-game outfits and gear for your character.
The overall experience lacks the magic of the Wii version, but Switch Sports works pretty well as a party game. (Mashable senior games reporter Adam Rosenberg described it as “a competitive but entirely low-stakes affair that’s easy for anyone, in virtually any kind of altered or inebriated state, to pick up and play.”) You’re better off with Ring Fit Adventure if you’re interested in the physical activity aspect, though: Switch Sports minigames never get intense enough to be considered a workout.
