TL;DR: As of July 21, you can get refurbished Microsoft Surface 3 Intel Atom Z8700(opens in a new tab) for just $199.99 instead of $230 — that’s a 13% discount.

Buying refurbished technology is an environmentally friendly alternative to buying new that’s also easier on the wallet. If you know what you’re shopping for and how it’s going to be used, you also may not even notice that the device you just took home has been out of the box before. This refurbished Microsoft Surface 3 Intel Atom could make for a useful portable device for work or school(opens in a new tab), and for a limited time, it’s on sale for $199.99 (Reg. $230).

The Microsoft Surface is part laptop and part tablet, and that’s what makes this refurbished one such a great find if you want a device that has flexible applications. This refurbished device has a 10.8-inch HD display with 10-point multi-touch. Use it in flat mode as a tablet, or prop it up using the built-in 3-point kickstand to work at your desk or give a hands-free presentation. Connect a Bluetooth keyboard and, in moments, you can have a functional laptop set up for work while taking up little room in your bags.

This Microsoft Surface 3 comes equipped with the standard set of dual cameras, an 8MP rear camera and 3.5MP on the front. It also has a microphone, Stereo speakers with Dolby®, a 10-hour battery life, and of course, it’s WiFi-enabled. Though it has the slim build characteristic of the whole Microsoft Surface line, this model still comes with ports for USB 3.0, a Mini DisplayPort, microSD™ card reader, a micro USB charging port, a headset jack, and a cover port. That narrow build also doesn’t preclude it from packing some decent processing power and storage space. With 2GB of RAM and 64GB SSD, you should be able to run most apps you download.

Buying refurbished technology could be a way for you to save money while still giving yourself a tech upgrade. For a limited time, you can get this refurbished Microsoft Surface 3 Intel Atom Z8700(opens in a new tab) on sale for only $199 (Reg. $230).
