Here are the Fitbit Sense 2 and Fitbit Versa 4

TL;DR

  • The Fitbit Sense 2 and Fitbit Versa 4 just leaked.
  • Both devices appear to have physical buttons.
  • There are some subtle design refinements, but no major shifts it seems.

Fitbit hasn’t launched a new smartwatch since 2020. The two watches it launched in September that year were the Fitbit Versa 3 and its more expensive companion the Sense.

Now, it looks like the company could be dropping a Fitbit Sense 2 and a Fitbit Versa 4 in 2022. Thanks to some leaked images via 9to5Google, we now have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the new wearables.

Fitbit Sense 2

The most notable alleged new design element of the Sense 2 is the physical button on the side. In 2020, the Sense and the Versa 3 had a capacitive groove on the side that was not easy to activate, especially with sweaty or gloved fingers. A normal button here is a welcome change.

Elsewhere, the device appears to have less stainless steel around the frame. It appears as if Fitbit integrated the ECG strip into the glass, creating a more seamless look. It’s tricky to tell from these photos, but that might also mean the Sense 2 could be thinner than the original.

In the photo at the top of this article, you can see what we presume to be the in-box contents of the Fitbit Sense 2. As with the 2020 model, it seems you’ll get the device, a buckle strap, two sizes of secondary straps, and a magnetic charger.

Fitbit Versa 4

Outside of the new button, the Fitbit Versa 4 appears to be a very subtle refinement of the Versa 3’s design. It’s possible that the major upgrades for both this and the Sense 2 will be under the hood, as we’d hardly expect Fitbit to release new versions of a product just to bring a physical button. However, given how divisive that original capacitive groove was, that might not be too far-fetched of an idea.

We’d expect Fitbit to launch the Sense 2 and Versa 3 in September. However, they could land in August to give more breathing room for the Google Pixel Watch. We’ll need to wait and see!
