Poll: Do you tweak your phone’s display resolution?

Eric Zeman / Android Authority

One Android 13 feature that’s gone under the radar is the ability to adjust your phone’s display resolution. But the feature has been available on phones from other Android OEMs for years now.

A developer has even harnessed the stable Android 13 update to unofficially bring display resolution adjustments to the Pixel 6 Pro. And that got us wondering whether Android Authority readers tweak the display resolution on their own phones. So let us know via the poll below.

Do you adjust your phone’s display resolution?

33 votes

The biggest reason to tweak your phone’s display resolution is that dropping the resolution can claw back some battery life — the phone simply doesn’t need to push as many pixels around. This is particularly true of phones with QHD+ or 4K screens, but we’ve also seen phones with FHD+ screens allowing you to drop the resolution to HD+ resolution. On the other end of the spectrum, some phones might be set to a lower resolution out of the box (such as the Xiaomi Mi 11), so we understand if you actually increased the display resolution instead.

We’ve also seen phones from the likes of Oppo and OnePlus offering automatic screen resolution switching. This way, the phone will switch to a higher resolution for some tasks (e.g. viewing media) and drop to a lower resolution for other scenarios (e.g. low battery).
