Windows Phone on Android looks great on Z Fold 4

TL;DR

  • YouTuber Mark Spurrell converted his Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 into a pseudo-Windows phone with Android.
  • He used two different launchers to change the outer and inner displays.
  • The phone looks really interesting with faux Windows Phone on the outside and faux Windows 10 on the inside.

The Windows Phone platform is long gone, but it still has lots of love from the tech community. Meanwhile, Windows 10 is one of the best versions of the world’s second-most popular operating system.

Essentially, Spurrell used one launcher to create a faux Windows Phone experience on the outer display of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. He then used a second launcher to create a faux Windows 10 setup on the inner display. Now, Spurrell has an Android device that looks like a phone from yesteryear that then opens up into what looks like a small Windows tablet.

It doesn’t just look like Windows, either. It even performs like Windows, with a working Start button, a settings panel that looks like the same one in Windows 10, and more. Of course, it’s still Android underneath, so only the aesthetics have changed.

Spurrell used the Square Home launcher for the outer screen and Win-X Launcher for the inner screen. If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 4 (or any Galaxy Z Fold device, really), you can use those to replicate his look.

Meanwhile, we can’t help but wonder: should Microsoft make this phone, but really running Windows? It seems like this would be a better move than the Surface Duo the company created. Let us know in the comments what you think!
