Getting tired of using the same old emojis in all of your messages? Then we have some good news for you. It looks like a fresh batch of emojis have officially rolled out today.
The latest version of the Unicode Standard — a consistent encoding, representation, and handling of text — was released earlier today. Known as Unicode 15.0, this recent update brings 31 new emojis to play around with.
Among this collection of new emoji, you can now find
- A wing
- A shaking face
- Rightward pushing hand
- Leftward pushing hand
- Light blue heart
- Pink heart
- Grey heart
- A jellyfish
- A moose
- A donkey
- A goose
- Ginger
- Hyacinth
- A pea pod
- Folding hand fan
- Hair pick
- Maracas
- Flute
- A Khanda symbol
- A wireless symbol
- A blackbird
The other 10 emojis not listed here are just skin tone variants of the rightward and leftward pushing hand emoji. Below we have included pictures of what some of these emojis will look like.
If you want to start using these emojis right now, there are a few things you’ll need to know first. There are a number of factors that will determine if and when you can use these emojis. For example, these emojis haven’t made their way to Android yet, however, the emojis are expected to be added to Android early next year. While you can download the emoji on your Android device, you’ll only be able to use them where they are supported.
As for when you can expect the next wave of emojis to grace your device, the planned release of Unicode 16.0 isn’t expected to drop until 2023 to 2024 according to Emojipedia.
