‘Welcome to Chippendales’ trailer reveals the true story of Somen ‘Steve’ Banerjee

It’s the 1980s and Chippendales are still a thing. No, not the two chipmunks — the gloriously luxurious male strip clubs. Hulu’s latest trailer for its miniseries Welcome to Chippendales teases a dramatic retelling of Somen “Steve” Banerjee’s notorious empire and the murder that spiraled its downfall.

Created by Emmy nominee Robert Siegel (Pam and Tommy), Welcome to Chippendales follows Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani) on his journey from an Indian immigrant to a Gen X Gatsby, with the world’s largest male-stripping empire under his belt. But, as any true crime connoisseur would know, Banerjee’s success was short lived with secrecy, scandal, and murder eclipsing the neon-lit world of his chippendales into oblivion.

The cast lineup also includes Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers), and Broadway star Annaleigh Ashford, with Matt Shakman (WandaVision) directing all episodes.

Welcome to Chippendales premieres Nov. 22 on Hulu, with new episodes every Tuesday.
