No matter how great a smartphone is, every device has its flaws. For the Samsung Galaxy S22, one of its flaws is its slow charging speed. According to a leak, it appears the next generation of the S line may also share this flaw.
A leak from Twitter user Ice Universe suggests that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 has passed network certification. While there’s nothing all that interesting about passing a certification test, what is interesting is the leak also revealed the charging speed of the device.
According to the leaked info, the Galaxy S23 will have a charging speed of 25W. For reference, this is the same charging standard Samsung has used for the Galaxy S22, S21, S20, and S10. So if this leak is correct, then the Galaxy S23 will likely charge at the same rate as this year’s handset.
This is unfortunate news as 25W is one of the slowest charging speeds in the industry right now. For example, the OnePlus 10 Pro boasts a charging speed of 80W in the United States, and so does Oppo’s Find X5 Pro. Even the iPhone 13 Pro Max offers support for 27W. Google claims the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro support 30W, but we found that it actually tops out at about 22W.
While it would be nice to see the Galaxy S23 upgrade its charging to something higher, it’s unlikely this would be a deal breaker for anybody.
