V/H/S/99 Trailer Teases Larger Than Life Found Footage Horror

The trailer for the upcoming installment of beloved found footage horror anthology series, V/H/S/99, has arrived at New York Comic-Con and you can take it in, right now, in all its nostalgic Y2K-flavored glory. Watch the trailer now.

V/H/S/99 will premiere on Shudder on October 20, and features five different short, found footage films with directors like Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) and rapper FlyingLotus. If the trailer is to be believed, it will also feature plenty of late-’90s throwbacks, splattering guts, and maybe even some nods to challenge-style teen game shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple. The trailer features the song “Larger than Life” by Backstreet Boys which in no way is synonymous with horror, but it is with the ’90s.

The V/H/S series kicked off back in 2012 with the titular V/H/S movie. The premise was simple: a collection of V/H/S tapes were uncovered, each showcasing a new short found footage nightmare, done by different up-and-coming directors. The original V/H/S saw work from directors like David Bruckner, Adam Wingard, and Ti West. In 2013, it was followed by a sequel called V/H/S/2, then V/H/S: Viral in 2014, and V/H/S/94 in 2021.

The official synopsis of the movie reads: V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analog days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium. In V/H/S/99, a thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations.
