A 10-Year-Old Keanu Reeves Would’ve Wanted To Play Ghost Rider In The MCU

It seems like everybody wants to play Marvel’s hog-ridin’ haunter, Ghost Rider. Motorcycle travel show host Norman Reedus and motorcycle film The Place Beyond the Pines star Ryan Gosling have both expressed interest. Now, real-life motorcycle company owner Keanu Reeves has expressed interest as well, in a new interview with Jimmy Kimmel.

During his appearance to talk about his comic series, BRZRKR, which Netflix is developing into both a live-action movie and an animated series, Reeves told Kimmel that “I might have lost my nerd card as I got older, but when I was younger, I was pretty nerdy with comics.” Kimmel suggested that now that he’s into his 50s, Keanu might just be a nerd. to which Reeves admitted, “Alright, man, I’ll be a nerd!”

Kimmel then asked Reeves to look back and make a decision about which character he’d have wanted to play when he was 10 years old.

“Ten year old me would want to–I think he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider,” Reeves said. Kimmel pushed Reeves to say which characters Marvel Studios has offered him; Reeves evaded the question, but said, “It’s really cool. I think the way that the Marvel films have developed and what they are is really spectacular, and it would be great to be a part of that.”

Reeves and Marvel Studios have been circling each other for some time. In 2019, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said he was looking for the right way to bring Reeves into the MCU. In 2021, Reeves said that it would be an honor to join the MCU. With Reeves’ extensive real-life experience with motorcycles and stuntwork, Ghost Rider seems like a great fit. While no one has announced anything, it only seems like a matter of time before Reeves joins the MCU. In the meantime, he’s considering a second outing as director for the aforementioned Netflix BRZRKR film.
