TL;DR

  • Samsung is currently hosting its developer’s conference.
  • At SDC 2022, the company announced that the stable version of One UI 5 will be coming to the Galaxy S22 series this month.
  • It had previously only been available in beta.

After waiting for months, Samsung Galaxy S22 series users will finally be able to upgrade to the stable version of Samsung’s Android 13-based One UI 5 operating system. The company announced that the upgrade will be available at the end of the month.

When Android 13 was first released back in mid-August, Pixel owners had first dibs at the new OS. After a few weeks, Samsung put out a One UI 5 beta program that would allow its users to get a taste of the Android 13 experience if they signed up. However, the rollout was slow, with the program only being available in the US, Germany, and South Korea for Galaxy S22 devices at first. The program eventually expanded to more countries and Samsung devices as time passed.

During today’s 2022 Samsung Developer Conference, the company finally revealed when the stable version of the OS will come. Samsung Galaxy S22 series owners will be able to expect the update to arrive at the end of October.

Once installed, One UI 5 will bring the core Android 13 experience for users to enjoy. Some of the new features that will be in the update include an expanded set of color-theming options, widget stacking to save space, new controls for blocking notifications from certain apps, and an enhanced Dex experience.

  1. For those of you with Samsung Galaxy S21 and S20, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 devices, unfortunately, it looks like you’ll have to wait just a little longer. The company didn’t mention when the update will be available for these devices. But at least, the beta is still available for the S21 and S20.
