TL;DR

  • New details about the display on Google’s upcoming foldable phone have leaked.
  • Sources claim the internal screen may support a resolution of 1,840 x 2,208.
  • The internal display may also support a 120Hz refresh rate.

It’s been a while since we last heard any news about the foldable phone Google has been working on. However, a new rumor has just popped up and gives us details on the device’s internal and external displays.

The folks over at 91Mobiles, in collaboration with Kuba Wojciechowski, may have dug up some new specifications for what they call the Google Pixel Fold.

According to the leak, the internal and external screens of the handset could be made by Samsung. The internal screen may measure 123mm x 148mm and have a resolution of 1,840 x 2,208. Additionally, it could boast a brightness rating of up to 1,200 nits with an average brightness of 800 nits. Finally, the internal screen is expected to have a high refresh rate that could go all the way up to 120Hz.

As for the external screen, it appears there is almost no information to go on other than it may be made by Samsung. However, earlier leaks have suggested that the phone could have a rear triple camera setup that consists of a 64MP IMX787 main shooter, S5K3J1 telephoto sensor (10.8MP), and an IMX386 ultrawide camera (12MP). There was also a rumor that there would be a camera located on the bezel of the internal display.

It’s believed that Google’s upcoming foldable is called the Google Pixel Notepad and not the Google Pixel Fold. However, Wojciechowski claimed that he found evidence of Google working on a second foldable codenamed Felix, which could be the device we’re talking about here. So as with any rumor, take this information with a healthy grain of salt.
