Owners of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are finally getting a taste of one of the software features they were promised — Clear Calling. The call quality enhancer is available for those who download the Android 13 QPR1 beta 3.
When Google showed off the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro during its Pixel launch event earlier this month, it also revealed a few new software features coming to the handsets. One of those features was Clear Calling, software that “uses machine learning to automatically filter out background noise and enhance the voice on the other end of the line, so it’s easier to hear the person you’re talking to, even if they’re on a windy street or in a noisy restaurant,” Google mentions in a blog post.
While the feature has been available to other Pixel phones since the rollout of the public beta of Android 13 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release) back in September, it wasn’t available for the Pixel 7 series at the time. However, it appears the feature has finally made it over to the Pixel 7 series, according to Android Police.
If you install the Android 13 QPR1 beta, you’ll be able to find the feature in your sound settings. All you have to do is scroll down to your settings, tap on Sound & vibration, then find Clear Calling below. Once you enter the Clear Calling page, you can toggle it on or off.
Before you get started, you’ll have to sign up for Google’s beta program, which the company explains how to do here. Keep in mind that the update is an unstable version, so there may be bugs and errors you encounter.
