Here’s when your Galaxy smartphone will likely get Android 13

It’s taken some time, but Samsung has finally begun rolling out the stable version of its Android 13-based OS — One UI 5. Here’s everything you need to know about the update and when it’s coming to your device.

When Google released Android 13 back in August, only Pixel devices had access to the update. However, a couple of weeks later, Samsung released a beta version of One UI 5 for the Galaxy S22 series. After that, the beta slowly opened up to more devices within Samsung’s portfolio and for more markets. Two months later, Samsung is finally ready to release the stable version of One UI 5.

What comes with Android 13?

Just as a refresher, let’s quickly go over what’s new in Android 13. This update brings a number of design changes to the UI including auto-theming icons, more theme options, an alternative lock screen clock setup, and a new look for your Now Playing widget. It also introduces a few functionality improvements like QR code scanner support, Bluetooth LE, a reworked audio output selector, per app language options, a revamped clipboard, and smart home controls that can be accessed without unlocking your phone. In addition, there are a variety of privacy and security improvements, as well as internal optimization upgrades.

Samsung’s version of Android 13 will come with a few benefits unique to itself. This includes a privacy detection feature for photos you share, a Privacy and security dashboard similar to Google’s, Bixby Text Call, video wallpapers, more lock screen customization options, a Maintenance Mode, and stackable widgets.

When is Android 13 coming?

Samsung announced earlier this month that One UI 5 would first roll out to Galaxy S22 devices later this month. The update has arrived and is available for download right now for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

As for the rest of Samsung’s phones, 9To5Google found that the company sent consumers in Korea a preliminary list through the Samsung Members app. The list shows a roadmap that starts with the devices planned to get the update for October and moves down from there.
