Cristin Milioti has been cast in a lead role for HBO Max’s upcoming The Batman spin-off TV series, according to a report. Deadline heard from sources that Milioti will play Sofia Falcone, the daughter of mob boss Carmine Falcone. In the 2022 film from director Matt Reeves, John Turturro played the role.

Milioti will star on the show opposite Colin Farrell as the Penguin. The drama series is in development under the working title The Penguin. The character Sofia Falcone appeared on the Fox series Gotham, played by Crystal Reed.

Milioti is known for her roles on the TV show How I Met Your Mother and the movie Palm Springs. She also stars on the Peacock original series The Resort.

The Penguin TV series begins “about a week” after The Batman ends, so there is still a lot of chaos going on. “I read the script for the first episode, and it opens up with my feet splashing through water in Falcone’s office. Even just that alone, I read it, I was like, ‘Oh, jeez,'” Farrell said.

Cameras are expected to begin rolling for The Penguin in 2023, and no premiere date has been announced yet, so fans should get comfortable as they wait for it.

As for The Batman film series, a sequel is in the works but it isn’t expect to hit theaters until 2025 at the soonest. According to a report, Reeves hasn’t delivered a finished script as of yet.

As for the Batman video game franchise, Gotham Knights just launched across console and PC. Unfortunately, though, reviews for the title are not exactly overwhelmingly positive.
