Red Bull Racing’s first e-scooter packs plenty of F1 racing pedigree

TL;DR

  • Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing has announced its first scooter.
  • The RBS#01 is designed using carbon fiber, includes a 750W motor, and boasts a range of 37 miles.
  • Pricing starts at $6,000.

Not content with competing in Formula 1, Red Bull Racing has announced its own “thoroughbred” e-scooter that focuses on handling and performance.

Dubbed the RBS#01, the e-scooter utilizes plenty of racing technology in its construction. For one, you’ll find plenty of carbon fiber in its chassis. It’s a material that’s incredibly lightweight for the strength it provides. Red Bull has also paired the e-scooter with large-diameter wheels and soft-compound tires to handle city streets and particularly twisty sidewalks better. At the same time, a large standing platform makes it safer for novices to find a comfortable stance.

In terms of raw specs, the e-scooter packs a 750W motor with a top speed of 28mph and a range of 37 miles from its 760Wh battery. The RBS#01 includes drilled brake rotors to stop at that speed, much like a performance car.

There are plenty of practical considerations, too. The RBS#01 features a thumb-actuated throttle with all cables integrated into the chassis itself. There’s also an LCD for live speed readouts and an LED headlight for low-light riding. Damp weather use is also possible thanks to its IP65 water resistance rating.

The Red Bull RBS#01 could be one of the best e-scooters for those who enjoy the thrill of riding, but it’s by no means cheap. You’ll need $6,000 to snag one, but you can pay $600 upfront to get yourself on the pre-order list. Shipments commence in the summer of 2023.
