WhatsApp is the world’s most popular mobile messaging app, with the service recently hitting two billion users earlier this year. The team isn’t resting on its laurels when it comes to features though, as it’s quietly implemented QR code functionality on Android.

The feature, spotted by WABetaInfo, gives each user their own unique QR code. Others can scan this code from within WhatsApp to add you to the service.

You can find your QR code by visiting settings and then tapping the QR code icon next to your name. From here, WhatsApp offers two tabs, with the first showing your QR code and the second letting you scan other codes via the camera or gallery.

The Facebook-owned team also lets you reset your code via the three-dot menu — a handy way to preserve privacy in case your code gets posted somewhere.

WABetaInfo reports that the WhatsApp QR code functionality is available on version 2.20.171 of the Android app, which is the current beta version on the Play Store. We can confirm seeing the feature after updating to this version.

What else would you like to see from WhatsApp in the future? Let us know in the comments! Otherwise, you can check out more Android Authority articles via the list below.
