Xbox Series S on sale at Verizon: Save $70 on this next-gen console

SAVE $70: The Xbox Series S(opens in a new tab) is on sale for $229.99 at Verizon as of Dec. 16. That’s 23% off and the lowest non-bundle discount we’ve seen to date.

If there were ever a time to engage in some good old-fashioned gaming escapism, it’s now. Immerse yourself in some of the hottest new games or give a next-gen gaming gift with this last-minute deal on one of the most affordable consoles available.

Right now, you can pick up the Xbox Series S(opens in a new tab) at Verizon for just $229.99, which is $70 off its regular price. It’s also $40 cheaper than Amazon’s current price(opens in a new tab). You technically would have saved more money with the Prime Day 2 bundle deal that included a free controller, but this Verizon pricing is the best straight discount on the Series S that we’ve seen all year. As an added bonus, you can also take advantage of Verizon’s free 2-day shipping and free in-store pickup options if you need the console ahead of the holidays.

The Xbox Series S is the best bang for your buck when it comes to next-gen consoles. This pared-down version of the Xbox Series X is still a powerhouse that can handle the newest slate of Xbox titles on your must-play list.

It comes with 512GB of storage and tops out at a resolution of 1440p at 120Hz, but it’s the cheapest way to experience the newest games on the market. It ditches the disc drive, which means you’ll only be able to download or stream your games, but if that’s not a dealbreaker, you’ll find this system more than capable of handling anything you want to play.

According to Mashable gaming reporter Adam Rosenberg’s review, the Xbox Series X is “undeniably more powerful”, but the Xbox Series S offers a user experience that is “nearly the same”.

Alternatively, you can still grab the Xbox Series S at Walmart with an extra wireless controller for $289.99, another great deal that saves you $70 and gives you an excuse to try more co-op and multiplayer games. But you’ll want to act fast with this Verizon deal since it likely won’t be available for long at this price.
