Xiaomi announced the Redmi K60 series earlier this week, bringing some affordable flagship-level phones to China. We’re expecting at least one of these devices to land outside China and get a name change, and a trusted source has now shed apparent details.
MIUI Polska writer Kacper Skrzypek tweeted that the Redmi K60 will be called the Poco F5 Pro when it comes to global markets. Skrzypek didn’t reveal any additional details such as target markets, but we’re guessing that the phone will arrive in the likes of Europe and India. This would nevertheless be the first Poco F Pro model since 2020’s Poco F2 Pro.
In any event, a Poco F5 Pro based on the Redmi K60 would be an interesting proposition. Redmi’s standard model comes with a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, QHD+ OLED screen, and a 5,500mAh battery with 67W wired charging.
These are also the first Redmi phones with wireless charging capabilities (offering 30W speeds). So a Poco F5 Pro based on this device would gain wireless charging for the first time in the Poco series too. Otherwise, the K60 also offers a 64MP+8MP+2MP camera system, so don’t expect anything special in this regard.
The Redmi K60 starts at 2,499 yuan (~$359) in China, but we can likely add ~$100 or more to the final price in Europe. This would still be a good buy for ~$450 though.
Skrzypek also asserts that the Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition (featuring a Snapdragon 778G chipset) will land as the Poco X5 Pro, and that the Chinese Redmi Note 12 will retain the Redmi Note 12 name or use the Poco X5 5G moniker. Unfortunately, he had no word on the Poco F5.
