Samsung could skip the Galaxy S24 Plus in 2024

TL;DR

  • Samsung could reportedly skip the Galaxy S24 Plus model in 2024.
  • It’s believed that the Galaxy S22 Plus only accounted for 17% of shipments in 2022.

Samsung has offered three Galaxy S flagships for a few years now, dating back to 2020’s Galaxy S20 series. We’ve had the standard model, Plus variant, and Ultra device on offer each year since then.

Now, The Elec reports that Samsung might skip the Galaxy S24 Plus in favor of only releasing the standard Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra models in 2024.

More specifically, the Korean news outlet asserts that there are “DM1” and “DM3” projects in the works at Samsung, corresponding to the base and Ultra models. But it says the “DM2” or Galaxy S24 Plus project is missing in action for now.

Do you think Samsung should get rid of the Plus model?

It seems like poor sales of the Galaxy S22 Plus might be to blame for this move. The Galaxy S22 Plus only accounted for 17% of Galaxy S22 shipments last year, the outlet reported, citing Gfk figures. Meanwhile, the base and Ultra models were said to account for 38% and 45% of 2022 shipments respectively.

The Galaxy S24 Plus might not be the only casualty in the future. Samsung will apparently reduce the number of Galaxy A series models too, with the Galaxy A2x series potentially being cut. But it’s also believed the company will resurrect the Galaxy FE series in 2024 to address the “low-end product market.”
