The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will finally have some competition at MWC

TL;DR

  • Honor has announced a February 27 event at MWC 2023.
  • The company will launch the Honor Magic Vs foldable in global markets on the day.
  • Honor will also launch the Honor Magic 5 series of flagship phones.

Now, Honor has announced that it will be holding a global launch event at MWC 2023 on February 27 at 1:30PM CET (7:30 AM ET). The company has confirmed that the Honor Magic Vs foldable phone will make an appearance on the day.

This wouldn’t be the first time we see the Honor Magic Vs though, as the device first debuted in late November 2022. That launch was restricted to China though, so we’re glad to see Honor finally bringing the new foldable to global markets.

What to know about the Honor foldable?

The Honor Magic Vs serves up a 6.45-inch 120Hz OLED external display and a 7.9-inch 90Hz folding OLED panel. Much like the Galaxy Z Fold 4, you’re getting stylus support for the folding display. But you shouldn’t expect a stylus slot on this device, in line with Samsung foldables.

Other notable features include a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, a 5,000mAh battery with 66W wired charging, and a triple rear camera system (54MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 8MP 3x tele). You’re also getting a 16MP selfie shooter on each screen.

Will you buy the Honor Magic Vs foldable?

This isn’t the only device you should expect on the day, as the company’s event image (seen at the top of the page) confirms that the Honor Magic 5 series will debut on the day too. There’s no word on features or other details, but it stands to reason we’ll get flagship silicon, a flexible rear camera system, a 120Hz LTPO OLED screen, and super-fast charging speeds.

In saying so, we took issue with the lackluster update pledge, disappointing secondary cameras, and poor third-party charging capabilities in our Honor Magic 4 Pro review. So we hope Honor addresses these issues with the Magic 5 line.
