Now, Counterpoint Research has revealed how much it costs to make the Pixel 7 Pro, claiming that the mmWave variant costs $413 to make. Of course, this doesn’t mean Google is making $486 on each Pixel 7 Pro sold at full price. These bill of materials (BoM) estimates don’t take other costs into account, such as marketing expenses, R&D costs, and labor-related figures.
It’s also worth noting that Google and retail partners frequently offer discounts on the Pixel 7 Pro, with Amazon currently offering the device for just $749.
Samsung is the big winner
Counterpoint notes that Samsung accounts for 51% of the $413 total cost. More specifically, the Pixel 7 Pro’s QHD+ screen apparently accounted for 20% of the total BoM, while Samsung also supplied camera sensors, the modem, memory modules in some models, and several power management chips.
The tracking firm also asserted that the Tensor G2 processor costs $10 more than the original Tensor processor. This chipset combined with the Titan M2 security chip means Google parts accounted for a reported 7% of the BoM.
In any event, TechInsights previously reported that the Pixel 6 Pro costs $485.50 to make, although it’s unclear if this is the mmWave variant or sub-6GHz 5G model.
