Not really, the adaptations that try to stray away and fail outweigh the good ones.
The times TLOU does adapt it almost 100% from the game, replicating scenes it’s some of the best moments but when it changes things I’m just left scratching my head. Spores to Tendril, the Tess kiss and the like.
The issue is find is that the reason there’s changes is because they are rushing to get the original game out the way rather than just doing two seasons. This season should have ended on a bleak note with Sam and Henry’s death. It just feels like when Tess, Bill, Frank, Henry and Sam are introduced within that episode or so they are killed off.
If they stuck to the games more with Bill and Frank and had half the episode slowly showing the downfall of the relationship, Bill not changing his ways while Frank wants to go out and find other communities, they could have finally had Frank deciding to leave Bill, try to get the car battery, get bitten then bang himself only for the end of the episode Bill who’s looking for Frank bump into Joel and Ellie while the next episode covers Bills Town, but because they are trying to get to the end quickly with only one season they’ve cut corners and it’s sad because the show could have accompanied the games, adding backstory but now it feels like an alternate world. I just don’t understand why Neil said Bills Town was boring to adapt when it was pretty great.
It’s the “best” adaptation we have but for me, personal, they still have changed things here and there for the sake of it and some casting choices have been questionable. Don’t get me started on Kathleen the “greatest and smartest leader”
