Control your lights with your phone with this $16 smart switch

TL;DR: Through midnight on Feb. 23, you can score the Switchmate 2.0(Opens in a new tab) on sale for only $15.99 rather than $29 — that’s a 46% savings.

Smart home technology(Opens in a new tab) doesn’t have to be expensive or labor-intensive to offer a quality of life improvement. The Switchmate 2.0 is an easy-to-install modification for light switches that gives you more ways to control your lighting whether you’re in or out of the house. It only takes a moment to install, and you can get one for $15.99 if you purchase before 11:59 p.m. PT on February 23.

A smart light switch that’s easy to install

Switchmate’s manufacturers say the setup only takes one second, and that may not be an exaggeration considering all you have to do is attach it to the screws on your existing light switch’s wall plate. It’s all magnetic, so you might not even need any tools unless the packaging gives you trouble.

Once it’s attached, you can connect the Switchmate to your smartphone using the iOS or Android app. The app lets you set timers and operate your light switch remotely(Opens in a new tab). If you’re on vacation but want your home to seem lived in, just flip a few switches or set a timer that turns out the lights around bedtime.

When you’re home, you don’t even need your phone to operate your Switchmate. All you need is your voice. No voice hub is required to use the Switchmate’s voice controls, but you can pair it with the Smart Power Outlet(Opens in a new tab) if you want to connect it to your Google Assistant or Alexa.

Control your lights with your phone

You can make your home a little smarter without getting into the wiring, and there’s no need to worry about an apartment landlord when uninstalling the Switchmate. (In fact, you should probably take it with you.) If you buy before February 23 at 11:59 p.m. PT, you can get a Switchmate 2.0(Opens in a new tab) on sale for $15.99 (reg. $29). No coupon needed.

Prices subject to change.
