TL;DR

  • The price of a YouTube TV subscription is going up from $65 per month to $73 per month.
  • The hike will take effect for existing customers from April 18.
  • Meanwhile, the service is cutting the cost of the 4K Plus add-on by half.

YouTube TV is hiking its price and will now cost double of its original price when it launched in 2017. With the latest increase, the monthly price of the streaming TV service is going up from $65/month to $73/month. The service is also informing current YouTube TV subscribers about the price hike via their registered email IDs.

If you have an HBO Max add-on to your YouTube TV subscription, you’ll also be paying the extra $16 per month, making your monthly YouTube TV bill go up to $89. The service attributes the price increase to the rising cost of content for the platform.

Meanwhile, prices for the 4K Plus add-on are actually going down. Google announced that it will now cost $10 a month, down from $20 a month. So if you are a YouTube TV subscriber right now, you’ll actually get a smaller monthly bill until the new prices go into effect.

If you subscribe to YouTube TV today, the new hiked-up rates will apply. Meanwhile, existing YouTube TV customers will see their subscription costs go up starting April 18.

For a monthly amount of $73, you’ll continue to get the same YouTube TV base services, including over 100 TV channels, DVR with unlimited storage, the ability to share your account with up to six people, and the ability to stream on three different screens simultaneously.
