Dead Island 2 Cinematic Trailer Comes From Studio Behind HBO’s The Last Of Us Intro

An eyeball in a martini doesn’t sound too appealing. But that’s what awaits in the cinematic title sequence for Dead Island 2, which comes from the creative studio Elastic. While that name may not sound familiar, the team was behind HBO’s The Last of Us intro.

The new Dead Island 2 trailer is all about setting the gory scene for the sequel. Los Angeles looks soaked in blood, with a red stain even covering a Hollywood Walk of Fame star bearing the game’s title. The City of Angels has become the city of zombies.

The cinematic title sequence also shows off an abandoned pool scene where blood has begun mixing with the water. The flamingo float is still somehow upright, though. The video also features a bloody limo, a grisly diner, and a downed plane right off shore from Los Angeles.

Don’t forget that Dead Island 2’s release date actually got moved up a week. The sequel will release April 21 now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The action-RPG has previously been delayed multiple times and even switched studio hands more than once. Homefront: The Revolution developer Dambuster is the team behind the game now.

GameSpot’s Mark Delaney got to check out the sequel, and Dead Island 2 wasn’t what he expected. For more, check out everything we know about Dead Island 2.
