Nintendo Switch OLED ‘Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’ edition: Where to preorder, release date

TL;DR: The Nintendo Switch OLED The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition ($359.99) will launch on Friday, April 28. In the meantime, you can pre-order one online through Best Buy(Opens in a new tab) and Target(Opens in a new tab) or in person at a GameStop(Opens in a new tab) store near you.

You’ve reserved a copy of the game. You’ve taken off work on launch day. You’ve set out milk and cookies for Hestu.

The only thing left to do before The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom finally arrives on May 12? Upgrade your Nintendo Switch console to the OLED model for next-level visuals, improved audio, and extra storage space. (At 18.2GB, it’ll be even bigger(Opens in a new tab) than Breath of the Wild.)

The timing is perfect: Nintendo announced a TOTK-inspired OLED Switch during a gameplay presentation this week, a confirmation of months-long rumors(Opens in a new tab) and a little treat for anyone who’s sat patiently through the game’s many delays. Featuring a gold design with the Hylian Crest, it’s priced at $359.99 (the same price as the standard version) and set for release on Friday, April 28 (or exactly two weeks before the game comes out).

Availability will probably be quite limited — this is a special-edition Zelda console we’re talking about — so we recommend pre-ordering your unit well ahead of time. At the time of writing, it was available online through Best Buy(Opens in a new tab) and Target(Opens in a new tab) and in person at GameStop(Opens in a new tab) stores. Note that it does not include a copy of the game itself.

If you don’t have a spare $360 to drop on a new console but are still interested in a commemorative accessory, TOTK will be joined by a themed Nintendo Switch Pro controller ($74.99) and carrying case ($24.99) on May 12. Only the case was available at the time of writing — pre-order it at Best Buy(Opens in a new tab) or GameStop(Opens in a new tab) while you still can.
