The Play Store starts showcasing premium games for Chromebooks

Chromebooks aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when one mentions gaming machines, yet Google may be set to change that. The Play Store on Chromebooks will start highlighting premium games that are built to play well with premium Chromebooks like the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, the Pixelbook Go, and the Asus C436, among others.

First spotted by the folks over at Chrome Unboxed, a section of the Play Store when opened on Chromebooks will showcase those games that take advantage of the full Chrome OS experience. At the same time, Google also set up the Play Store versions Doom and Doom II as its new Chromebook purchase perks to give users a taste of how a well-optimized Android game would work on the operating system at no additional cost.

This isn’t the first time Google has highlighted a specific feature of Chromebooks with the Play Store, it also had a section for apps that work with Chrome OS in general at the launch of the Pixel Slate a while ago. While you won’t be playing any hardcore games on your Chromebook just yet, it’s a start.

The answer to “Why Should I get a Chromebook?” is turning into “Because it can do everything.” Now, how well it can do everything is a story for another day.
