Foldable phones have been around since 2019, but it feels like the segment is finally hitting its stride in 2023. We’ve seen HONOR, TECNO, and OPPO all joining Samsung, Motorola, and HUAWEI in offering foldables outside China.
Foldable phones still account for a tiny minority of overall smartphones shipped though, but what would make you buy one? That’s what we want to find out in today’s poll, so give us your answer below.

Foldable phones are pretty refined propositions right now, as designs are getting thinner, free-stop hinges are increasingly popular among non-Samsung foldables, and display creases are also getting smaller. We’ve also seen several foldable phones offering water resistance, which is pretty impressive for the form factor.
Then again, there’s definitely some room for improvement. Foldables still make some compromises compared to the best Android phones, often losing out when it comes to the camera setup, battery size, and dust resistance. This is in addition to some complaints like the display crease, the plastic nature of folding screens, and the relatively heavy weight of larger foldables.
