The first of the month marks the unofficial start of the season for “living for the hope of it all.” The Folklore track describes the haunting end of a one-sided summer romance and contains some of Swift’s most quotable lyrics.
Aside from listening to the song on repeat, drinking wine, and longing for summer love, Swifties ring in August 1 by posting incessantly about the song. It’s truly a feat how many memes can be derived from the source material.
